Wireless Equipment and Svcs. continues to be the leading advertising category for cable, only suffering a slight loss between 2008 and 2007.

Beverages, Household Products, Food-Packaged Goods: Others, and Internet/Service Providers all increased their advertising investments when comparing 2008 to 2007; with the Internet/Service Provider category enjoying the highest growth, putting it among the top 10 at 7th position among the major categories investing in cable. This only shows the strength internet is gaining in Latin America, in this case Argentina.

Automotive and Personal Care had insignificant declines in their total investments.

Theatrical Film, Food Packaged Goods: Dairy, and Financial Services lowered their advertising investment much more drastically, placing them in the bottom tier of the major advertising categories.

Automotive-Auto and Personal Care/Hygiene: Dental remain the categories with the largest investment level for the first half of 2008 as it was throughout 2007 while also enjoying growth in 2008.

Wireless Equipment and Svcs. remains constant in 2008 in comparison to 2007.

Theatrical Film and Health/Beauty: Fragrances lost investment levels during the first half of 2008 compared to 2007.

Toys/Games: Toys and Household Prod/Cleaners/Detergent have much smaller levels of investment yet show growth in 2008 vs. 2007.

Financial Services: Credit Cards, Internet Company/Service Provider, and Financial Services: Banks & Svgs & Loans, all experienced losses throughout the first half of 2008 compared to 2007.

Looking at the chart for Brazil and Argentina it is interesting to note the difference in investment behaviors by category.

Wireless Equipment and Svcs. took over the #1 spot with the highest Pay TV investment level for the first half of 2008, with almost a 100% increase. Although this category enjoyed growth in Argentina and remained stable in Brazil, the importance of this category in Mexico supersedes both Argentina and Brazil.

Automotive-Auto suffered a loss in investment level probably due to the increasing cost of fuel.

Automotive-Auto, Theatrical Films and Healthy/Beauty: Fragrances were the only three categories to suffer slight losses in investment levels in this strong and stable market.

Beer/Liquor/Wine enjoyed a considerably higher investment level in Pay TV in 2008. This category also enjoyed a much higher volume of spots as seen in the next graph.

Food-Packaged Goods: Dairy, Beverage/Soft Drinks/Juice, Household Prod/Cleaners/Detergent and Pharmaceutical showed just slight increases in 2008.

In this market while there was a slight decrease in some categories, the overall tendency is leaning towards an increased growth.

Personal Care/Hygiene: Dental, Wireless Equipment and Svcs. and Financial Services: Banks & Svgs & Loans dominate investment, and are the top 3 categories for advertising expenditures in Pay TV. These categories also led in 2007 but have significantly increased their lead in the first half of 2008.

Wireless Equipment and Svcs. is a category that is playing a key role within Pay TV advertising.

Financial Services: Banks & Svgs & Loans holds one of the top spots for investment levels in Venezuela; this in unlike the other markets where this category is not key.

Financial Services: Credit Cards has invested less this year when compared to 2007.

Health/Beauty: Fragrances and Automotive reduced their investment levels as well.

Automotive is not a key category in this market.
